Collaboration Between Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse
Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse, two innovative crypto gaming platforms operating on the Ethereum scaling network known as Ronin, are joining forces to introduce the PIXEL token into the Runiverse—a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that recently became available in early access. Forgotten Runiverse, created by Biosonic, draws inspiration from the Ethereum NFT collection entitled Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult. In July 2024, the game transitioned from layer-2 Arbitrum to Ronin and plans to launch its own native token, XP, which will serve as the ecosystem’s currency for Forgotten Runes.
Significant Moves to Ronin
The social farming game Pixels also migrated to Ronin in late 2023, generating significant interest in the Ethereum network just ahead of the PIXEL token’s launch last year. As part of a broader initiative to welcome more developers to Ronin, the two teams are now working together. “We’ve always recognized the potential for synergy between our projects, as both focus on establishing interoperable and sustainable Web3 economies. We’re constantly exploring ways to collaborate and advance that vision,” stated Pixels founder Luke Barwikowski. “At this moment, the industry genuinely needs more collaboration. This partnership ultimately benefits everyone involved.”
Benefits of the Collaboration
As a result of this partnership, players in Runiverse will be able to earn PIXEL rewards using Quanta, the in-game currency of Forgotten Runiverse. Additionally, PIXEL will facilitate the purchase of mana, boosts, and special items within the game. “Integrating PIXEL into the Runiverse provides players with the opportunity to experience a well-established token economy within a new gaming environment,” said Shane Bierwith, COO of Biosonic. “This not only enhances the immediate utility of PIXEL but also fortifies our ecosystem as we get ready to launch our native token, XP.”
Enhancing Game Mechanics Through Data
The teams anticipate that this integration will enrich the utility of PIXEL and provide valuable insights to enhance player engagement and play-to-earn (P2E) strategies. “Our success hinges on the data,” Barwikowski noted. “We’re focused on leveraging big data, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics to refine our P2E models and improve reward efficiency.” He added, “Collaborating with Forgotten Runiverse enables us to gain a deeper understanding of player behavior, optimize our P2E systems, and ultimately enhance retention and engagement. By gathering more insights through this partnership, we aim to develop strategies that can be shared with additional teams in the future.”
Measuring Engagement and In-Game Spending
Bierwith echoed this sentiment, stating that Biosonic will analyze the data to assess “how effectively PIXEL drives repeat engagement, retention, and meaningful in-game spending,” which includes tracking how many users convert Quanta into PIXEL and its application in the game’s gacha-style rewards system, known as the Font of Memory.
Upcoming Features and Future Goals
To celebrate their collaboration, special Runiverse-themed quests will be introduced in Pixels, along with a unique Runiverse avatar that will be available before PIXEL officially launches in the fantasy MMORPG. This token integration is anticipated to occur within this quarter. Barwikowski emphasized that this collaboration with Forgotten Runiverse marks “just the beginning.” He remarked, “Our ultimate aim is to collaborate and bring Web3 into the mainstream. At Pixels, we are dedicated to sharing our insights and tools to assist other games in scaling and growing, as collective advancement benefits us all in the long run.” Pixels has reported generating over $20 million in revenue and has more than 10 million registered players, as per their team. The PIXEL token has already been integrated into both the primary Pixels game and its spinoff, Pixel Dungeons, which launched in December.
